GWAR Frontman DAVE BROCKIE A.K.A. ODERUS URUNGUS Dead At 50
David M. Brockie, also known as the Lead singer of GWAR ODERUS URUNGUS was found dead in his home earlier this evening. in his home in the 4800 block of west seminary Avenue. The Medical Examiners office will determine the cause of death which will be announced Monday at later today at 1pm EST.
Police say that they don't suspect foul play.
the Richmond Police Department confirmed early Monday that the 50-year-old musician was found dead in his home Sunday between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. by his roommate.
In my own experiences with Dave, it was fleeting but memorable as I turned down being sacrificed at a concert in Chicago back in the 90'sat the Metro caberet Club and I managed to schmooze my way to talk to Dave and some other members of the band such as the deceased bass player Cory Smoot.
Back then, I had hoped that I could get a decent story to aid mty own fledgling career. I discovered with Dave that he was a big fan of my Cousin Doug Williams of the Washington Redskins whom he loved, Nevertheless, we never talked again.
GWAR was VERY popular in Chicago at that time and I guess this will be yet another memory of an entertainer that I met, respected and has passed but I will remember. I did not personally get into their music like a LOT of my other friends but I still respected and jammed to them when the situation presented itself.
